The Cooking Ape
In Elisabeth Townsend's The Cooking Ape, she interviews Richard Wrangham on how cooking and fire has evolved us as humans. Richard starts off talking about how gazed into a fire and this led him to wonder about fire and our past time. He tells us that a long time ago our ancestors had smaller bodies, teeth and brains. He believes that this has to do with eating raw food. When humans started cooking food that's when they became bigger in size and requiring more calories. He says that there was a time when people had fire but were unaware of its capabilities. By having fire available and knowing its abilities today humans don't have to spend all day chewing their food. Cooking the food not only makes humans healthier but it also saves a lot of time.
