Paper 4

One thing that I am concered about with my paper is not staying on topic. I feel like i wander sometimes. I guess making sure all my facts are reletated to my thesis.

4 perspectives

1.) For getting paid to play
2.) only players who are good get paid
3.) making sports have a major with the playing
4.) not getting anything keeping it the way it is

I am thinking about doing a proposal essay. I feel like I have enough research to support this idea and I certainly agree with this solution. I think that having the sport of your choice as a major with not only help you during your time playing but also it will make the school look better because students grades will improve if it its something that they enjoy.

Having the extra days to work on the paper gave me more time to make sure that I supported ideas from the articles. I made sure that i explained what was going on in the article and hopefully it flows well with the paper. The sample didn't really help me that much. I feel like the strongest point of my paper is that i found 4 different perspectives and they all relate to the topic but from different looks. I am concerned that the paper wasn't long enough. I though that it had to be 3-4 pages.

The author isn’t objective because he leading toward the issue of not paying college players for their play. This article is directed toward players and fans that have anything to do with this issue. The main idea is that athletes should not be paid outside of their scholarship because they have the opportunity to work just like non-athletes, also he states that getting paid to play is what professional sports is for. Things that I learned from this article is that when this issue is brought up in the NCAA meeting it will quickly be resolved because of some of the issues the author talks about. I disagree with this author because being an athlete I know how little time athletes have for jobs outside of school and practice. This article will be helpful because it is something that I can argue against.

The author is not bias because he argues for and against the issue. This article is related to athletes and fans as well as lawyers and government officials.  This article argues that athletes should stay amateurs but they should be paid because NCAA is making money off of them and the players don’t see any of it. I learned about the fair market value, which states that players should be paid according to how they perform.  This makes sense to me because I agree that if a player puts people in the seats then he should be paid more than someone that doesn’t ever play.  This will be helpful in my papers because it is an article that supports my side of the issue.

The author is bias because he argues for college athletes to be paid for play. This article’s directed audience is people who are interested in this topic or athletes that it directly affects. The main point of the article is that student athletes are getting their education paid for but there are so many restrictions on when they can work or how much they are allowed to work. The author argues that students should be paid for how much money they bring in to the University.  This particular article will help support the claim for athletes to be paid for play.

The author is not bias to this topic because she is not for or against it but yet she presents a theory that should be looked at. This article is directed toward people who are interested in the topic pay for play. The main idea of this article is that instead of paying athletes for play, allow them major in their sport and educate them on what lies ahead in something that interest them. By reading this article I have become interested in this topic because I think that it could be beneficial to student athletes. This article can be very helpful because it gives you an outside look on the paid for play topic but yet it can help fix the problem.

The article explains that the NCAA does not exploit college athletes because they feel that the cost of college goes up every year and this is a way to pay athletes. The audience is NCAA members, coaches and players. This article is not bias because they are not for or against the issues, they reassess arguments about this topic. I found it interesting that the author thinks that having the cost of tuition rising is a payment for athletes. This can be helpful because it doesn’t affect either side it just tweaks what is already there.

This author thinks that the system is not fair, but is against being paid a wage.  This article is directed toward anyone who has a hand in this issue, but particularly anyone who makes the rules. The main idea of this article is that in state athletes are getting cheated as opposed to out of state students who are getting a lot more money. Also students who are not wealthy are not getting the money they need to attend school. I found it interesting that in state students could feel cheated when it comes to money for tuition.  This could be helpful when writing my paper because this could support the side where athletes are getting paid but show a different idea of how to pay them fairly.

This article is bias because the author is strongly against the paying of athletes. The main idea is that paying sports that make the university a lot of money will never happen because whatever they pay the male athletes you have to double it to pay for the female athletes. There is not enough money to give athletes a little amount of money for playing. I learned that only a few schools actually make money off their sporting events, with this rule most small schools would only be able to have one sport if any. This will be helpful in my paper because it supports being against getting paid for play.

This articles objective is to educate the reader with information about how some college athletes struggle because they are not educated well enough to pass the classes. The author tells us that athletes should not be paid because they are getting to go to school for free. The author also feels that it is not fair to the students because the school feels like they can help in the athletic department but when being an athlete is over they will have nothing to fall back on. This article can be helpful to me when writing my paper because I never thought of this issue from this perspective and I think that it is something very important to look into.

The athletic issue is the easiest for me to relate to because being an athlete this affects me directly. I think that this is the issue that I will choose becasue of how close this topic is to me.

Factory food artificially cheap, bad for your health

The claim is that factory food is unsafe and unsustainable and that America should produce more organic food. Using unnatural living environments cause the animals to get ill more often than they would at a pasture. Aquatic animals are being harmed as well because of the factory's waste runoff. I feel that there is not enough information here to convince me that factory food is less safe than organic food.
